How are classes scheduled?
All it takes to schedule a class is a range, an instructor, and a few students. This
website serves as a place to let as many people as possible know about training
classes - the more people taking classes, the more instructors we can bring to
Louisiana.
Tiger Mckee - Sat 9/20 - Mon 9/22 - Defensive Carbine
Three day - $500 - 1200 rounds Two day - $375 - 800 rounds
Spring 2009
Three day Carbine - This class covers the basics of using the AR carbine for
defensive encounters. Students begin with safety and gunhandling, the basics of
combative marksmanship, and the threat response including shooter movement.
Particular attention is paid to the combative mind-set, including environmental
awareness and avoidance, and the mental skills required to use the carbine in a
violent encounter. The class teaches drills that include movement, the use of
cover, multiple targets and low light training. This course focuses on the mental
and physical skills required for combative engagements, of which shooting is a
small part.
Mckee - Vehicle Defense - This is a level three class. It requires instructor
approval. At least two prior handgun classes This course will involve the use of
personally owned vehicles on the range. How to address threats from within a
vehicle, fighting your way out of a vehicle, and fighting your way to a vehicle will be
addressed.
Awerbuck -Tactical Handgun - Designed to create reflexive gunhandling,
competent marksmanship and tactical thinking, this course encompasses
shooting from a ready position, the drawstroke and shooting from the holster,
shooting from various tactical body positions, loading, unloading and reloading,
malfunction clearances, shooting on the move, moving targets, dim light and
flashlight shooting and weapon retention. A short course of instruction on the
utilization of backup guns is included for those who have opted to carry 2 pistols.
Ammunition requirement is 500 rounds, and 50 rounds for a backup pistol if
used.
